We Support

Barrow Farm is a member of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), the British Horse Society (BHS) and the Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS). We have over 100 children and adult riders and drivers who come to us each week and we have been providing riding since 1976. For our riders, riding at Barrow Farm can provide physiotherapy and exercise, a chance to learn, the opportunity to make new friends, build self esteem and confidence and all this while having FUN.

With so many adult responsibilities, young carers often miss out on opportunities that other children / young people have to play and learn. Many struggle educationally and are often bullied for being ‘different’. Many young carers become isolated, with no relief from the responsibilities of caring and the pressures at home; as a result many young carers will often loose their childhood. Kool Carers provides a safe, professional and comfortable environment for young carers Age 8 – 18 years to develop personal and social relationships, whilst developing their independent life-skills and building their resilience, all of which helps to to reduce isolation and enhance emotional wellbeing.

In Essex, every 58 minutes, somebody is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. As a charity, our mission is to ensure that everyone in Essex living with an acquired brain injury can live a fulfilling life and that families and carers are better able to cope within their caring roles. Thanks to those who volunteer, fundraise and donate to us, we are able to help those we support develop a renewed sense of purpose, social structure and added meaning to their lives.

At Kids in Mind, we delve deeply into the unseen ripples that this turbulence creates in a child's life, believing in the power of understanding, support, and early intervention to illuminate their path to healing.

In 2022, BOSP were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (an equivalent of an MBE and the highest recognition a voluntary group can receive).

Ramsden Hall School is a 72 place residential and day school that caters for boys aged 11 to 16  with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.  The school is situated in fourteen  acres of wooded grounds and gardens on the outskirts of Billericay but in the village of Ramsden Heath. We have supported the school with improving the environment of the school, renovating a swimming pool with a new pool cover, some gym equipment and canoeing course.

TEECH was established in 1998 when a group of people took up the challenge from a colleague to help repair two hospitals in Bucharest. About fifty volunteers travelled to Bucharest and set about painting, plastering, providing lighting and generally making the hospitals cleaner, safer and brighter places. After the success of this trip, and seeing the need to be more structured the volunteers organised themselves into a Registered Charity and hence TEECH (Telecoms Eastern European Challenge) was born. TEECH is a small independent charity, run by an unpaid team of volunteers, with no links to BT.

Our vision is to improve the lives of those in Eastern Europe, who by no fault of their own are living in conditions not seen in Western Europe since before the war. TEECH aim to improve their lives by installing sanitary ware into schools, orphanages and elderly residences where no indoor toilets exist. The charity also delivers aid, including clothing, toys and shoes to the local communities.

Emergencies are messy, complex and chaotic. MSF is designed to respond fast – they have a network of medics and aid experts across some 65 countries and a financial independence that means that they can act rapidly, without waiting for governments or other institutions to release funds. This reach and independence means they always try to help the people in greatest need, rather than tailoring our response to the demands of funders, politicians or the media. People come first.

ShelterBox is a Rotary-led charity working with disaster-hit families around the world, offering emergency shelter and other essential items to support them in rebuilding their lives. Every disaster is different and so is every community, so we spend time with those affected to make sure we can offer the right support at the right time to help them recover.
