The Soapbox Derby will return to Billericay on May 10, 2020. Following the success of the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 events – it will all happen again in 2020!
Doing it all again in 2020
It’s a GO!
The 2020 Soapbox Derby is planned to take place on Sunday May 10, 2020, the date being changed from the usual Bank Holiday Monday because the May Bank holiday has moved to Friday May 8 to support the celebrations for the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.
As a consequence, the Soapbox Derby has also been moved to the Sunday of that same weekend and is planned to be an integral part of the town’s VE Day Anniversary celebrations.
After four successful years of running the Soapbox Derby from 2016 to 2019, at which thousands of spectators have enjoyed the spectacle and fun of the day, and at which nearly £130,000 has been raised for charity and good causes our friends at the Rotary Club of Billericay are handing over responsibility for the event to our Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower. We are presently resolving some final details, but we are opening registration for SoapBoxes.
If you are considering entering a Soapbox in the 2020 Soapbox Derby then please put the date of May 10, 2020 in to your diaries and start thinking about what you might enter.
You can enter a soapbox by clicking on the button below and following the instructions:
As with all events run by Billericay Mayflower Rotary Club all participants are required to have Public Liability Insurance cover and proof of this is required when entering your team. For your information we would direct you to sportscoverdirect.com as a possible company offering affordable insurance cover for the day that also has an element of personal accident cover and as we are aware of cost concerns we are reducing the entry fee from £60 per team to £50 per team as we feel this insurance cover is important and we do not want to discourage teams from entering.
